Built my own Fully Automated Chemex Coffee Machine
I got my very first Chemex glass almost two years ago as a gift for my birthday. I was so excited to take it back to uni and use it to make my, very dear, morning coffee. However as the mornings went on, I realised how much time and effort it took to prepare the Chemex coffee before the start of class. Slowly I started settling for the quick fix of the Uni cafeteria coffee. As I sat there in class drinking that bean water, I had an idea... Im gonna build my self a Chemex Coffee machine that will do it all! I took out a pencil and a piece of paper and started drawing. Page after page, version after version perfecting my dream machine. It was all I could think about, I was faced with challenges and problems daily that needed to be solved! From sketches on a paper, it slowly became more conceivable as I started 3D designing it on my Laptop during lectures... from there it moved into 3D printing the parts and working on the different functions it should have. This was just the beginning the next step was to program all the individual parts as well as programming one main code to make it all work together. My basic knowledge of electronics was challenged but it was my foundation throughout the build. Looking back I see how much I have learned through this fun, but tough process. It wasn't an easy journey and I must admit there were some points I wanted to throw the whole thing out the window, but I kept on working. Now as I look at this robot looking thing, I don't just see a machine that can make me a good cup of coffee but rather it is an encouragement for me, to keep pushing no matter what I do because some day i'll have the chance to look back and see where I came from and what I've learned along the way that has brought me to this point.
Hope you enjoy the video!
Cheers!
